Meet Danny Fairley, Chief of Security at Benedictine College who has worked here for 14 years:

“Watching students come into college with big eyes away from home and being someone who students can depend on and count on means a lot to me. This job is a lot more than just handing out tickets. One of the most meaningful parts of this job is meeting all of the families and watching the different generations of families that have come through. Even though I’m not their parent, I see these kids grow from when they come in as freshmen to the who they become as seniors – I’m there to offer a handshake or support if they need it to the best of my abilities. It’s truly been a blessing to me. But really, I’m a people’s person, and I just love people.

I married my high school sweetheart, Chandra, in 1990. She means the world to me and is totally responsible for the Danny the world knows today – my hero! I’ve always taught my wife and daughters about making sure they complete things. So, everybody else in my family had gone to college, and I just wanted to make sure that I was a man of my word and that I would make the completion of getting my degree. In 2020, then, I graduated from Benedictine College with a degree in Criminology. The best thing about it was that it kind of allowed me to not only lead the students, but actually go to class with them. I think I earned their respect with that experience – someone has told me that I’ve gotten the loudest standing ovation in Benedictine history!

As an employee of the college, President Minnis’ vision of creating a community atmosphere has been one of the big things for me. As we always say, ‘Forward, Always Forward, Everywhere Forward,’ so going into every year, I evaluate how we can complete this mission and move forward.

Benedictine College is and will forever be a blessing to me and my family!”
