Spires Drop to Falcons 27-21

The University of Saint Mary Men’s Wrestling team took on the Friends Falcons on Wednesday, narrowly losing by a score of 27-21.

Friends had an early lead over Saint Mary, taking a win in the 125 class due to a vacated stop by the Spires. Ethan Woods (133) and David Hunter (149) got things going for Saint Mary, with each wrestler winning their matches by decision. In the 165 weight class, Jackson Jones got the win for Saint Mary, beating his opponent by decision 8-4. Gabe Chesbro kept the Spires alive in the 184 weight class after pinning his opponent roughly halfway through the first round. However, a loss by fall in the 285 class for Saint Mary sealed a win for the Falcons, 27-21.
