The City of Atchison has a full-time opening for a Utility Services Technician.   Duties include, but not limited to replaces and installs water meters for residential and commercial buildings; assists in field testing; repair and maintenance of water meters at residential, commercial, or industrial locations; reads commercial water meters monthly; assist Water & Sewer System Maintenance crew as needed; investigates meter malfunctions; responds to customer complaints; provides locates of water and sewer lines; operation of power and hand tools and city vehicles. This position is also on-call in a rotation with all other employees in the Water Maintenance Department. Supplemental pay is $100 each week you are actively on-call.

Required:  18 Years or Older with a High School Diploma or G.E.D., a valid driver’s license and a pre-employment drug and physical screening and the ability to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with overtime available for special event support and backup for snow removal operations. 

Preferred Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license within 90 days of employment.  Training, equipment, and testing expenses are provided.  1+ years of experience working in an outdoor or industrial setting and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
