Highland Track & Field Travels to Pitt State for Region VI Indoor Championships

The Highland Scotties Women's Indoor Track squad placed 6th in region championships held last weekend at Pittsburg State University.  Dayjahney Hibbert led all Highland athletes, scoring 18 points as she won the high jump, took 4th in triple jump and 6th in long jump. The Men's squad placed 7th in the region, led by Aaron Quillen finishing 2nd in the pole vault.

 

Highlights from the meet: 

•    Amaree Hamilton placed 3rd in the 600m

•    Alexis O'Farrell placed 5th in the shot put and 7th in the weight throw

•    Kayly Guthrie placed 5th in both the 60m and the 200m

•    Tyrease Dutton-Bicalho placed 8th in the triple jump

•    Sam Pyle placed 5th in the 5k 

•    Tyrese Bishop placed 5th in the mile 

•    Romario Taylor placed 5th at 600m 

•    Clayon Cooper placed 7th in the 800 meter and was also on the 6th place Distance Medley Relay squad (Cooper, Collington, Foster, Bishop) and the 4x4 relay (Herrig-Brittian, Cooper, Edwards, Reeves) the men finished 7th in the conference 

Head coach Kathy Graham added, "We are moving in the right direction, every event area was represented in the scoring, rather than just one event area. This is progress. We are growing that glimmer of greatness every day. Our coaching staff is doing a fantastic job!"
