Women’s Wrestling Holds on to Win Over Falcons 29-19

The University of Saint Mary Women’s Wrestling team competed against Friends University on Wednesday night, which resulted in a 24-19 win.

The Spires got off to a fast start as two opening forfeits, paired with Lauren Lopez winning by fall, propelled Saint Mary to an early 15-0 lead. In the 130 weight class, Teya Villalpando won by tech fall to extend the USM lead to 19-0. The Falcons then climbed back as they rallied off three straight wins in the 136, 143, and 155 classes to close the gap.

 A forfeit win by the Falcons (191 class) and the Spires (170 class) resulted in a final score of 24-19 in favor of Saint Mary.
